FELICITY RESTO CAFE (The Second Visit)

April 24, 2011. It's Easter Sunday here and there was pretty much nothing to do on a hot summer afternoon. A few text messages here and there and I was able to round up a small group of friends to accompany me on a spontaneously planned foodtrip. Since most of my companions were to come from the not-so-near area of Farview (aka Fairview) and I was to come from the Monumento area, we decided to meet half-way near Ever Gotesco Commonwealth and from there proceed to FELICITY RESTO-CAFE.

This would be my 2nd trip to the said cafe in less than a week but hey, there are still several dishes I have yet to try and I have a good feeling that my friends would enjoy the food.

SARDINES AND OLIVES PASTA

This was my first time to try a spanish sardines and pasta combination and it was a delightful surprise that they worked pretty well together. It wasn't overly oily and the thin slices of (what I think are) sundried tomatoes does add a little nice contrast to the spicy saltiness of the sardines.

LEAN PORK WITH BASIL CREAM RELISH

The pieces of pork were nicely seasoned and quite tender, though I suggest consuming it at the soonest possible time before the meat starts to dry up. The addition of the basil does kick up the flavor several notches higher (at least for me it does though several of my companions are not that used yet to the strong aroma of the basil)

CRISP-ERFECT CHICKEN FILLET

Well not as crispy as one would expect, but at least the meat is somewhat moist and tender so I'm not really complaining. The gravy sauce is not as thick and has a more subtle flavor than what some other restos might be serving but me and my companions seemed to enjoy this more. (we even asked for an extra serving of the gravy)

DORY WITH TOMATO-PESTO CONFIT

Of the 4 dishes we ordered, this was the only repeat order from my previous visit. And much like the last time, we still got perfectly cooked fish and the tomato pesto combination was a total hit for my 3 companions.

MANGO RHAPSODY

For our desserts, I was actually looking for the Chocolate Eclairs I saw from the previous visit, but unfortunately they were not available on that particular day. Instead the friendly lady at the counter suggested we try the Mango Rhapsody. It pretty much tasted like the Mango Symphony I had before except for the absence of those finely chopped nuts. Nevertheless, because the cake wasn't overly sweet, we all enjoyed it.

On a personal sidenote: I also ordered the Chicken Masala dish "To-Go" just so that I can try it when I get home. I even approached the counter and asked them how they will package the food if I ordered for "Take Home" since I am usually concerned about spillage and other stuff that might happen when the food is left at the backseat of the car amidst all the shaking and bumpy ride. The lady at the counter assured me that they got things under control. Unfortunately, it turned out they just used those cheap styropor containers which are virtually useless in preventing sauces from spilling out. When I got home, most of the sauces from the chicken dish had already spilled unto the plastic bag and I'm left with some dry pieces of chicken.

Perhaps a friendly suggestion would be that they invest in a few of those plastic disposable "tupperware type" containers.

  1. I loved how they plated the sardines pasta. If only I am fond of seafood pasta, I will try that. :) Was it spicy?

  2. @ Jenn ...... it had a hint of "heat". But not enough to scorch the tongue.

I agree on the plating. My other companions at first didn't want to eat the pasta dish because they didn't want to destroy the plating.
