A TASTE OF L.A.

ROASTED OYSTERS
Wood Fired Oysters on a Half Shell

The oysters did come out a bit watery, but the freshness was still there. (and compared with some other restos, the oysters here are slightly bigger) They went well with the vinegar dip as well as a drop or two of tabasco.

SALMON BELLY SINIGANGWith Japanese Miso and Mustard Greens

The salmon belly was cooked nicely and the broth had a nice consistensy. And given that they used Mustard Green as the veggie, it had a somewhat bitter aftertaste...... some will like it, some  won't (in my case, I didn't)

LAZY BEEF FONDUE
US Angus Strip Steak Tips with Various Dips and Olive and Mushroom Fried Rice

After being misled a few weeks before at Max Brenner with regards to the "Fondue" I first asked the server if we will actually be getting a fondue and his reply was in the negative....... the dish that will be served is already cooked and that there will be no pot of boiling oil. (me thinks lots of restos are misusing the fondue concept)

Nevertheless I still ordered the said dish and I guess I didn't regret it. The beef is cooked perfectly (medium rare), very tender and is quite flavorful that I didn't find much use for the 5 types of dipping sauces that came with the dish. (I could only identify the honey mustard and blue cheese)

The small bowl of rice that came along with the beef dish tasted pretty much like the Kiampong one finds in chinese inspired restos.

SPICY DUCK PIZZABarbecued Duck, Leeks, Spring Onions and Mushroom

Imagine eating Peking Duck in pizza form ......... it's not something that really blew me away as the flavors were a bit held back. But I did find the slight uniqueness of this "tortilla thin" pizza quite enjoyable.

Oh........it's not spicy at all.
