JOHNNY ROCKETS (Tomas Morato)

Wasn't really my choice, it was actually my parents' idea to bring my nieces to JOHNNY ROCKETS (this is my 2nd time to dine in this establishment)..... my mom figured the kids would enjoy the short dance numbers being performed by the staff (actually the kids didn't really appreciate it.)

Anyway, I thought about veering away from the more expensive burgers (a grilled chicken burger can cost up to 405 pesos) and just opt for something more simple.

HOTDOG SANDWICH (with everything on it)

Well everything for them meant catsup, mustard, onions and pickles. (which is actually fine for me). I actually ordered a Chili Hotdog Sandwich, but the server who took my order must have forgotten and I ended up with a regular hotdog sandwich. (I wrote in their comment card that their servers should write down our orders instead of relying on their memory)

I fairness to the hotdog itself, it has a good beefy flavor. Though some issues did crop up which kinda ruined my "hotdog experience" ...... Firstly, I wondered why they cut the hotdog bun all the way through. This made eating the sandwich with my hands rather difficult because the onions and pickles and the hotdog itself is falling off at the bottom. Secondly, I like my hotdogs to retain it cylindrical shape and its big wonder why they had to slice it into two. Perhaps they were thinking I should be eating this sandwich "open-face" style. (where's the fun in that).............. Oh !!! they could have chopped the onions into smaller bits (much likes the pickes) ....... and carmelizing the onions a little would give out more flavor.

I think I can get a better beefy hotdog sandwich over at S&R.

SLIDERS

Its actually my first time to order Sliders and they turn out to be just mini or small burgers (probably good for 2 to 3 bites each) .......I didn't like it in that the beef pattie is not juicy, but dry. It doesn't have that beefy flavor that I love in burgers. The meat is actually underseasoned.

Just in case you're still thinking about trying out this place..... Aside from burgers and sandwiches, they now have rice meals.

  1. Finally an update!

Based on the photos you've posted, the food looks unappealing. I'm going to have my son read this entry so that he'd stop bugging us to take him there hahaha

  2. @ mark .... at least for what I ordered that particular day.

@ singer ..... S&R is one of those big local warehouse grocery thingys. Kinda like Cosco in the USA

@ Gene ..... if you haven't been to Johnny Rockets, I'd still say give some of the gourmet burgers a try. (though prices do come steep)

and who knows, you might enjoy the short dance numbers by the staff every now and then.

  4. @ pong pago ..... I actually was able to try CHARLIE's Grind and Grill in Kapitolyo many months back. And I think its a great place for burgers and imported beer.

I did post a review about it in a forum site. Guess I will have to dine there again so I can make an updated review here.
