EASTWOOD CITYWALK 1, Eastwood City
Was recently at Eastwood City and while strolling, we chanced upon this eatery that offers "eat all you can". I'm guessing that with a resto name like SOMETHIN' FISHY, there's bound to be an abundance of seafood dishes for us to choose. And knowing how my dad loves seafood, we decided to give it a try.

It was an early sunday lunchtime, but the crowd was quite thick already. Fortunately, we still got a nice table somewhat close to the buffet spread...... I would have wanted to take a picture of their spread, but given that there lots of people partaking of the food, I felt a little awkward taking the pics. Anyway, here are some of the food I got. (I actually can't remember all the foodstuff)
SEAFOOD CHOWDER

This has been the problem with most Buffet-style restos, the soup is usually lukewarm and not piping hot. Sadly, that was the case for this particular seafood chowder. Though I somewhat liked the creaminess of the soup and yet is not overly heavy on the stomach. (this is a buffet, so better save some room for the other foodstuff)
ASSORTED SUSHI & SASHIMI

I guess almost any resto that offers eat all you can usually has an offering of these japanese delicacies (I even heard that the filipino inspired eatery CABALEN has that in their buffet offerings).
Well at least I got me some nice fresh pieces of the raw fish ....... both the tuna and salmon were firm to the bite but I do wish they would make bigger slices.
FRESH OYSTERS

I was quite excited that fresh raw oysters are being served here. Normally I'd find these only in Hotel Buffets

As dipping sauces, we have plain white vinegar on the left and on the right its balsamic. After trying both vinegars with the oysters, I'd personally choose the plain white vinegar because it is not as strong and has less of the bittery aftertaste.
BAKED OYSTERS

The cream sauce was a little watery so its not that flavorful..... I guess in the end, I would go back for the fresh oysters.
ASSORTED GRILLED SEAFOODS

I can't remember all the seafood names, But aside from common favorites likes grilled squid and grilled tuna belly, I got me some swordfish, mahi-mahi and this fish with pesto.
I think most if not all the grilled seafoods I got were cooked nicely, though I guess the swordfish would have to get a little getting used to because of its spongy texture.
NON-SEAFOODS

Aside from seafoods, the resto also offer some meat for the carnivore. There's grilled chicken, Pork liempo, bopis and Beef Kaldereta. I also saw in the buffet spread other non-seafood dishes like a whole lechon and there was even a section for kids like spaghetti and all those other kiddie stuff.
At the end of the day, I just felt that I had a buffet lunch at SAISAKI DADs. I mean with a name like SOMETHIN' FISHY, they could have showcased a lot more of the seafoods. (aside from grilling, surely there would be other ways to serve seafoods) I guess the resto is just trying to please as many people as possible which would account for why they offered so many non-seafood dishes.
Come to think of it, if I'm not mistaken, I think I heard one of the servers mention that SAISAKI DADs and this resto share the same owner.

I'm not a big fan of desserts, but just for that particular day I thought I'd try their CHOCOLATE FONDUE.

The disappointing part is that I did not see any of those Fondue pots that keep the melted chocolate hot. All we got was a big bowl of liquid chocolate which does not taste (nor has smooth creamy texture) of melted chocolate. My guess is that what we have here is chocolate syrup, water and powdered chocolate.
Perhaps it would have been more appropriate to just call it Chocolate syrup dip.
Did you grill the seafoods or it was served grilled already? Eto yata yung p100 (or was it p1) buffet from midnight onwards, but am not sure. :)
ReplyDelete@ Jenn ...... it was served grilled already. We were there for lunch and we didn't ask about the midnight promo (actually we were clueless about it)
ReplyDeletehehehe yes triple v din may ari nyan bro :) same stuff different name! :) though the oysters seem to be a nice addition
ReplyDeletehahahaha classic talaga yun pic mo sa dessert :)
ReplyDelete@ steven ..... hahahahaha I said to myself, If I dipped the pineapple, the bread and the marsmallow into the chocolate. Then the readers won't know what I chose.
